Matthew D. Metzger is a California bankruptcy attorney and commercial litigator with nearly twenty years of practice in federal bankruptcy courts and California state courts. He founded Wireroom to bring the practical judgment of a working bankruptcy lawyer to claim valuation, early settlement and distressed-property research.

At Belvedere Legal, P.C., the San Mateo firm he founded, he focuses on commercial Chapter 11 cases (including Subchapter V) and out-of-court workouts. He has represented Chapter 11 business and individual debtors, non-institutional creditors and asset purchasers, and has served on creditors’ committees. Earlier in his career he clerked for the Honorable Larry R. Weeks of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Juneau, Alaska; served as a Deputy District Attorney in San Joaquin County, trying criminal matters and civil cases under California’s Unfair Competition Law; and litigated securities, predatory-lending and consumer and investor fraud class actions at Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy, LLP in Burlingame.
